Donation to The Open Bionics Foundation

The Open Bionics Foundation

HFCT was pleased to award a grant over three years to The Open Bionics Foundation which funds advanced bionic arms for people with upper limb differences from socio-economically deprived backgrounds.

The Foundation

The Open Bionics Foundation is a charitable trust that funds advanced and affordable prosthetic arms for amputees and people with limb differences who are unable to afford such life-changing assistive technology.

The Foundation can provide funding directly but also helps people run crowdfunding campaigns to raise the required sums.

Impact

- Improve functionality
Enables amputees and people with limb differences to do basic tasks that two-handed people take for granted like cooking, brushing hair and teeth, carrying school bags and books, holding a knife and fork, and completing tasks at work.
- Increase independence
Many amputees rely on help to complete daily tasks such as cutting food.
- Increase quality of life
With greater mobility comes less embarrassment and more confidence.
